Basic Requirements:

  1. Original valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity after departure date from China and with at least 2 blank visa pages, a photocopy of the passport’s data page and the photo page if it is separate.
  2. Computer typed Chinese Visa Application Form. Both parents must sign the application form for a minor child (under 18 years old) in Sections 4 & 5 and provide the photocopies of their passports.
  3. Computer typed VLSCanada Order Form
  4. One color photo, recently-taken (bare-head, full face) against a light background (size: 48mm x 33mm). Click here for photo requirements.
  5. Previous expired passport if your new passport was issued after January 1st, 2015. If you do not possess the old passport, please write an explanation letter as to why you do not have the old passport.

Additional Required Documents for L Visa:

Itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and the hotel reservation for the complete duration of the trip from hotel(s) in China or on-line reservation, cruise reservation or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China.

The invitation letter must show:

– Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
– Information on the planned visit (arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, etc.)
– Information on the inviting entity or individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual, Chinese ID copy (front and back) of the inviting individual.

Please note that If necessary, the visa officer may require providing other documents or require an interview with the applicant. Also, it is solely at visa officer’s discretion to grant you visa and he may refuse the issuance of visa without any explanation.

M Visa – Commerce and Trade Visa

Canadian Passport Holders

Issued to those who are invited to China for commercial and trade activities (visiting clients, suppliers, visiting company branch or headquarters, handle corporate related business).

*Note: To qualify for Multiple Business visa applicants must have completed two entries into China within the last 24 months or have previously expired multiple entry visa in last 12 months and invitation letter should explicitly state that multiple visa is required.

– Information about the planned visit (including purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relationship between inviting entity and the applicant, the inviting entity or individual, financial aspects of the trip).

– Information about the inviting entity (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual).

– An “Alien Employment License of the People’s Republic of China” issued by Chinese authorities for human resources and social security;
– A Work Permit for foreign experts in the People’s Republic of China issued by State Bureau of Foreign Experts or an authorized local Bureau of Foreign Experts;
– A “Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China” issued by State Bureau of Foreign Experts or an authorized local Bureau of Foreign Experts;
– A “Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in the People’s Republic of China” issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation;
– A “Registration Certificate of Resident Representative Office of Foreign (Region) Enterprise in China” issued by Chinese authorities for industrial and commercial administration;
– A Confirmation Letter for employment of foreign cultural centers in the People’s Republic of China issued by Ministry of Culture;
– An approval document for commercial performances issued by Chinese authorities for cultural affairs.

The invitation letter should contain:

2. Photocopy of Chinese IDs or foreign passports and permanent residence permit.

3. Original and the photocopy of the document showing the relationship between applicant and the inviting individual (marriage certificate, birth certificate).

For Foster Care Visa: the following documents are required:

1. Original and photocopy of the natural parents or ‘guardians’ passports, as well as the notarized and authenticated document showing the relationship between parents or guardians and children.

2. Original and photocopy of foster entrusted notarization issued by Chinese Embassies/Consulates General in foreign countries or Foster Care Power of Attorney notarized and authenticated in the country of residence or in China;

3. A letter agreeing to foster care issued by the trustee living in China who has agreed to provide foster care services and photocopy of the ID of the trustee.

4. A photocopy of the certificate indicating the parent(s) resided abroad when the child was born, providing that either or both parents of the child are Chinese citizens.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Original valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity after departure date from China and with at least 2 blank visa pages, a photocopy of the passport’s data page and the photo page if it is separate.
  2. Computer typed Chinese Visa Application Form. Both parents must sign the application form for a minor child (under 18 years old) in Sections 4 & 5 and provide the photocopies of their passports.
  3. Computer typed VLSCanada Order Form
  4. One color photo, recently-taken (bare-head, full face) against a light background (size: 48mm x 33mm). Click here for photo requirements.
  5. Previous expired passport if your new passport was issued after January 1st, 2015. If you do not possess the old passport, please write an explanation letter as to why you do not have the old passport.
  6. Original PR Card, Landed Document, Work Permit for Non-Canadian applicants staying in Canada.
  7. If you are a former Chinese citizen – please provide the photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas
  8. If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, please provide the last Chinese passport possessed and 2 photocopies of its data page.
  9. If you apply for Chinese Visa with the renewed foreign passport and you had the Chinese visas in your old passport please provide the photocopy of the previous passport and previous Chinese visas. Please note that the names in all documents should be the same.
  10. A child of Chinese origin, born in Canada or in another country is required to provide:
  11. Original Long Form Birth certificate + 1 photocopy.
  12. Both parent’s passports (original or photocopy) and permanent residence cards / landing Papers (original or photocopy).

* A child born in China, whose parents are both Chinese or one of the parents is Chinese when the child was born, has Chinese nationality, should apply for a Chinese Travel Document at the Chinese Embassy.

Additional Required Documents for X2 Visa:

1. Original and photocopy of the Admission Notice issued by a school or other entity in China.
